The Patient Experience

IntelliPsych believes that to provide transformative mental healthcare and shape the conversation of mental health in America, we must work to reduce  barriers  to accessing the care.  We offer services and approaches that are fundamentally different than what is commonly observed in the public mental health sector. Leveraging technology, flexible scheduling options, ACT therapy concepts, community resources, mindfulness and evidenced-based practices, we offer meaningful patient treatment plans that are trauma-sensitive, humanistic and individualized.  IntelliPsych emphasizes the importance of taking time to offer patient teaching.

Promote Wellbeing. Instill Hope. Heal Collaboratively. Reduce Barriers.

Scheduling

In addition to standard 9AM-5PM appointment scheduling, IntelliPsych offers one evening per week from 6PM-10PM for appointments.  We recognize that many patients have hourly jobs and extensive family commitments that make traditional 9AM - 5PM appointments too difficult.

IntelliPsych services are conducted exclusively through telehealth, allowing the patient to be free from the expense of driving and taking even more time away from work/family responsibilities.

Appointments & Fees

Appointments will be secured by a credit/debit card that can be used for co-payments.   There will be no fee for visits cancelled  >24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Same-day cancellations will be charged a flat 50$ fee, and no-shows will be charged the entire visit fee.

Stimulants &
Benzodiazapines

We are unable to manage stimulant prescriptions for patients with ADD/ADHD, though we will be happy to assist those patients with other aspects of their mental healthcare.

IntelliPsych recognizes the balance between the benefits and risks of the benzodiazepine class of medications (Klonopin, Valium, Xanax).  Though these medications have some utility in the treatment of anxiety, they are not a first-line treatment option and IntelliPsych providers will only infrequently prescribe them on a very short-term basis.  We will however, continue to work with patients to help find other medication treatment options while also emphasizing the importance of psychotherapy as a tool in navigating one's experience with anxiety.   For patients on benzodiazepines who choose to join our practice, your provider will work with you and your psychotherapist to taper off benzodiazepines over the next 3 to 6 months (or sooner if possible.) During this time,  behavior modification skills will be taught, therapy started (sometimes referring to outside therapists if indicated), and medications prescribed if necessary to help you attain your mental health wellness goals.

Teaching

IntelliPsych believes we have an obligation to advance the cause of greater mental healthcare by also teaching the next generation of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (NPs).   If a NP student is present on the day of your appointment, we will always ask if you would or would not like a nurse present.  It is never required.

Summer 2025: IntelliPsych will host a "Listen@Lunch," web-based lecture by an expert in the field of mental health, social services, non-profits in the community, or psychotherapy.  Patients and other community members interested in these conversations will be sent a hyperlink the day of the lecture.  We are excited to offer this free service as a way of expanding one's thought about mental health and one's awareness about social service agencies/non-profits in the community.
